Bloomington, Ind.—Oct. 7, 2012— Oftentimes in racing, no matter how prepared a team is or how fast of a car they have, one little thing can go wrong and throw a monkey wrench in their night. For Kraig Kinser this came in the form of a trip to the work area on Saturday night at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park during the World of Outlaws event, while he running among the Top-10. Kinser would return to the track and pass a number of cars in the late going aboard the Hendrickcars.com Maxim to salvage a respectable finish.

Kinser lined up 10th for the 25-lap main event at Rolling Wheels, which was part of NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLI. After falling back a couple of spots on the start he worked his way back to 10th on the seventh circuit. On lap-10, he came to a stop due to a loosened radius rod that forced him to the work area. After repairs were made, he was able to restart the race at the tail of the field and steadily passed cars over the final 15 laps to finish in the 15th spot at the sprawling five-eighth-mile located in Elbridge, N.Y., just outside of Syracuse.

“Obviously it was not quite the result we were looking for,” said Kinser. “We were able to pass some cars at the end after getting back on the track, so we definitely had some speed in the car. Sometimes luck is just not on your side. We’ve had it go both ways this year. All you can do is put it behind you and keep working hard for the next race.”

Kinser opened the night at Rolling Wheels by timing in 12th, which put him on the pole of the second eight-lap heat race. He would finish second in that contest to earn a spot in the dash, where he would line up 10th and finish in that same position to start the main event on the outside of the fifth row.

Kinser, who is currently sixth in the World of Outlaws championship standings on the strength of four wins, 18 Top-Five and 42 Top-10 finishes, returns to action next weekend at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., for the completion of the Ironman 55, which was postponed by rain, just as the 55-lap A-Feature was about to be pushed off on Aug. 4. Kinser will start seventh in the Ironman 55, which will be run in the afternoon, with a complete racing program set for that evening to make up an event that was rained out in April.

“We’ll head back to the shop for a few days before Pevely and be ready for both races next Saturday,” said Kinser. “We have a good starting spot in the Ironman 55, and that is a lot of laps to run at that track, so you have to make sure you have all your ducks in a row and some luck on your side. It will be good to get to race two main events in one day over there.”
