PEORIA, Ariz. (November 13, 2012) – Canyon Speedway Park is set to bring the curtains down on its 2012 season in a big way with the 45th Annual FVP Western World Championships presented by Sands Chevrolet this weekend atop the 1/3-mile clay oval.

The prestigious event offers up the best of both Sprint Car worlds, culminating with a $10,000-to-win winged Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Sprint Car tilt and a $5,000-to-win wingless ASCS Canyon Region Sprint Car main event.

The event virtually spans the entire week with a Kick Off Party on Tuesday night and open practice on Wednesday night preceding racing action on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Approximately half of each winged and wingless Sprint Car field will battle it out in a full event on Thursday, with the other half taking to the track Friday to set up Saturday’s championship feature events.

Coming off his fifth World of Outlaws championship, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz guns for his fourth overall and third consecutive Western World Championships triumph as Jason Johnson and Wayne Johnson settle the score in the Lucas Oil ASCS National championship race.

Ranked third in ASCS National points, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma’s Brady Bacon is one of several drivers that will pull double-duty in both the winged and wingless Sprint Car ranks. After taking back-to-back wins in the wingless Western World portion in 2009 and 2021, Bacon chased Tracy Hines to the line last year. Hines is back to defend his crown against the likes of current USAC National Sprint Car champion Bryan Clauson and Charles Davis, Jr., who looks to put the finishing touches on another ASCS Canyon Region championship.
