As the calendar changes to 2013, Andy Gregg has been busy during the short offseason making changes to his Guts Racing program, as he has hired a pair of crew guys, and has also added an additional sponsor to his team.

“I’m very excited with the way things are looking so far for the upcoming season,” Gregg said.

Spinning wrenches on the GUTS No.53 will be long-time crew chief, and Chico, CA native, Brian Cannon. Cannon has found success during his career as he has been apart of 60 wins, and six championships.

Some of Cannon’s most notable success has been winning three Civil War championships with Andy Forsberg, a third place finish at the Gold Cup Race of Champions with Andy Gregg, and a trio of Trophy Cup preliminary wins with Forsberg and Roger Crockett.

“Brian Cannon and I, have teamed with each-other in the past and have had success,” Gregg said. “It makes thing easier as a driver when you know you have someone with that much knowledge in your corner and working on your car.”

Gregg also welcomes Zac Thomas to his team to assist both himself and Cannon. Being relatively new to the sport, Thomas spent the 2012 season working on Placerville Speedway Rookie of the Year contender, Matt Land’s car, and has been around the track for many years.

“Zac has a great interest in the sport, and is the type of person I think myself and Brian can teach a lot to. It’s awesome to have someone with so much passion show interest in your team,” Gregg explained.

Gregg is also excited to announce that Coors Light has come on board to support his Guts Racing team.

For those that are familiar with the Coors Light brand in California, know that they have spent that last three years involved in the sport as they have supported Andy Forsberg, Brett Miller, and Mason Moore. The brand has had success in the sport, and Gregg is hopeful he too can deliver results.

“The last few years, the Coors Light car has been awesome out west,” he said. “Forsberg won a couple of championships with them, when I drove the 1x car we ran third at the Gold Cup, and Mason Moore picked up an ASCS National win for them. I’m hoping to pick up some wins with them and keep them involved.”

Gregg will look to do that all over the state of California in 2013 as he has put together a very aggressive schedule. Though he followed the King of the West season the past few years, Gregg will focus this season on racing at the Placerville Speedway, The Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, the Civil War Series, as well as select King of the West races.

“We had a great time on the KWS tour, but as a team we feel it’s better for our program to concentrate on racing as much as we can in California. I have made some great friends with the KWS tour and wish them all the best.”

ON TAP: Andy will open his season on March 2, 2013 at the Marysville Raceway Park for the Sherm Toller Memorial.
