Opening Night of the Winter Challenge Rained Out

Peoria, AZ — (January 25, 2013) — Mother Nature proved too tough to tame with persistent rain washing out the opening leg of Canyon Speedway Park’s Winter Challenge on Friday night.

 

Round Two of the Winter Challenge featuring the wingless Sprint Cars of the USAC Southwest versus the USAC West Coast Series along with IMCA Modifieds, Mini Sprints and Pure Stocks is still on as scheduled for Saturday with gates opening at 3:00 p.m. and racing action going green at 5:00 p.m.

 

Winter Challenge action continues on Sunday at the same time with Round Three, with the final three rounds set for Wednesday (January 30), Friday (Feb. 1) and Saturday (Feb. 2).  Sunday’s card offers up a $3,000 to win Sprint Car winner’s share, with the February 2 Winter Challenge finale a $5,000-to-win shootout.  The other rounds are all $2,000 to win.

Saturday, January 26 – Round 2 (Gates open at 3:00 p.m., Racing at 5:00 p.m.)

Sunday, January 27 – Round 3 (Gates open at 3:00 p.m., Racing at 5:00 p.m.)

Monday, January 28 – Coyotes vs. Predators NHL game at Jobing.com Arena

Tuesday, January 29 – Winter Challenge Bowling Tournament at Brunswick Lanes

Wednesday, January 30 – Round 4 (Gates open at 5:00 p.m., Racing at 7:00 p.m.)

Thursday, January 31 – Octane Raceway Go-Karts

Friday, February 1 – Round 5 (Gates open at 5:00 p.m., Racing at 7:00 p.m.)

Saturday, February 2 – Round 6 (Gates open at 3:00 p.m., Racing at 5:00 p.m.)
