Lebanon, IN — (February 28, 2013) — Officials of the United States Speed Association are pleased to announce that they have contracted with Ronnie Scudder and Jim Haun to serve as race officials for the USSA Sprint Car Challenge Series Built by the UAW. Scudder and Haun will join Chief Steward Norm Shields as an important part of the series’ efforts to ensure that the races are contested fairly, consistently and with respect for the teams.
“I have had the privilege of working with both Ronnie and Jim in the past,” said Eric Bunn, Competition Director of USSA. “Ronnie worked with Norm (Shields) and I for many years in the Ford Focus, Regional Midget Series and in the USSA Midgets and Kenyon Cars. His knowledge of open wheel cars from Indy Cars to K-Cars is invaluable to the series and our competitors.”
Bunn continued, “While with the ASA AC Delco Series, I had the opportunity to see Jim Haun in action from both the competitor’s side and the sanctioning body side. Jim is the kind of firm, fair official racers appreciate and series’ officials trust.”
“When you have the quality of officiating staff we are bringing to the track this year with Norm, Ronnie and Jim, you don’t need lots of people because you have the right people,” Bunn explained.
The addition of Scudder and Haun to the USSA race staff will enable the Sprint Car Challenge Series Built by the UAW to run technical inspection and safety inspections in an efficient manner as well as communicate effectively with the competitors in the pit areas of the racetracks.
The Sprint Car Challenge Series kicks-off on Sunday afternoon April 14 at Anderson Speedway with the Glen Niebel Classic Mel Kenyon 100.
