Ohsweken, ONT – (March 1, 2013) – Ohsweken Speedway officials are proud to announce the return of three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart on Monday, July 29, and Tuesday, July 30.
“Smoke” will compete against Ohsweken’s Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car teams in the Northern Summer Nationals on Monday, Jul 29. The event will also feature Mini Stocks and Bombers, and the return of 358 Modifieds to Ohsweken for the first time since 2008.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car series returns to Ohsweken for the seventh annual “Six Nations Showdown” on Tuesday, July 30, with Stewart set to go for a three-peat in that event. Thunder Stocks will join the show that night for a 25 lap feature.
Stewart has won 3 of his 4 career Sprint Car feature starts at Ohsweken, including the 2011 and 2012 World of Outlaws Sprint Car series “Six Nations Showdown” events, and last season’s Monday night Corr/Pak Merchandising event. His first start at Ohsweken on July 26, 2011 resulted in a 3rd place feature finish after Stewart started the race inside the 8th row.
Stewart considers his first ever World of Outlaws Sprint Car series feature win, which came at Ohsweken in 2011, to be one of his career highlights. His illustrious racing career began on Indiana dirt tracks, and he has never forgotten his roots, despite unprecedented success in the highest echelons of racing. “Smoke” is the only driver with NASCAR, IndyCar, and USAC championships on his resume, and he was the first to win USAC’s “Triple Crown” – Silver Crown, Sprint Car, and Midget titles in the same season.
He is involved in dirt track racing in an ownership capacity, with involvement in several facilities including the famous Eldora Speedway, and owns several dirt track racing teams too, including those of 20-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car champion Steve Kinser, and defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car champion Donny Schatz.
