Shane Stewart’s weekend competing at Bunbury in the Krikke Boys Shootout resulted in nothing more than bent racecar parts after a pair of accident’s sidelined the American, the most notable coming Saturday night while leading the feature.
“We had a great car on Friday night, but unfortunately a lapped car lost it in front of us, and we had nowhere to go,” Stewart said.
Qualifying seventh fastest on Saturday night, Stewart found his Monster Energy/Milwaukee Tools/GearWrench machine in the second row of the third heat race, which he proceeded to win.
Lining up fourth in Dash A, Stewart flexed his muscle, as he charged forward and picked off the win over Max Dumesny, putting his Prosser Toyota, KRE Engines, Lucas Oil Products machine on the pole of the feature event.
Stewart’s strong night rolled over to the feature event, where he got off to a great start in the feature as he took the lead, and worked away to a healthy advantage.
Easily the class of the field, trouble struck at the halfway point, as Stewart was navigating his K&N/Factory Kahne/Kaeding Performance machine through traffic and a slow car spun in front of him. With nowhere to go, Stewart plowed into the spinning car, and his night was over.
“Wrong place, wrong time,” Stewart said. “It was bad luck, but fortunately we did not hurt much.”
Saturday night however, was a much different story for the Monte Motorsports team.
Lining up third in his heat, Shane was involved in a hard wreck, that caused too much damage to his car, and his night was over very early, though he escaped uninjured.
“It was disappointing that our night got cut that short,” he said. “The Krikke Boys race is a huge race, and we were hoping to repeat our performance from last year.”
Shane and his Monte Motorsports team thank Monster Energy, Milwaukee, GearWrench, Prosser Toyota, KRE Engines, Lucas Oil Products, K&N, Factory Kahne Shocks, Kaeding Performance, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Miracle Recreation Equipment, Mahle Pistons, Cometic Gaskets, OGIO, GoPro, and DC Shoes.
