From Port Royal Speedway
Port Royal, PA — (March 11, 2013) — Nearly 50 cars took part in a Bug Day practice session at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday afternoon.
Over a dozen late models, 10 sprint cars, nearly 10 enduros and several 305 and 358 sprint cars joined the action along with pro stocks and super sportsman.
The on track action was the first test of the entirely new racing surface that was put down at the close of last season and the result was a good one.
A well-groomed oval held up wonderfully under the bright and warm sunshine as a couple of hundred fans looked on.
Port Royal Speedway is now set for its 2013 season opener next Saturday, March 16 at 6 pm when the Aumiller’s Insurance 410 sprint cars join the 358 sprint cars for an open wheel doubleheader.
General admission gates will open at 4 pm.
The appearance by the 358 sprints will be the only stand-alone show for the division at the track in 2013.
Adult general admission for the Mach 16 program will be $15 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for just $5.
Last year Greg Hodnett and Pat Cannon lifted the lid on the Port Royal season with wins in the 410 and 358 divisions respectively.
