With a long haul to Sydney scheduled for this week, Shane Stewart and his Monte Motorsports team elected to leave the Monster Energy machine in the shop, and instead brought out the Miracle Equipment/KRE Engines No. 17 and parked it in victory lane on Saturday night.
“Just to be on the safe side we elected to roll out the 17 car, and it worked out for us as he picked up the win,” he said.
Making his first trip to Perth Motorplex since the WSS finale, Stewart simply dominated the General 25 as he scored a second place finish from his fourth starting spot in his first heat, before winning his second heat from the fourth spot.
Lining up on the pole of the feature, Stewart was dialed in to near perfection as only caution flags could slow the Bixby, OK native.
With a feature that was plagued with four cautions and stoppages, Stewart never missed a beat on any of his restarts, and was never seriously challenged all night.
Stewart’s win was his fourth of the 2013 season in Australia, and his first win in the Monte Motorsports No.17 car after finding success in it during his last Australian trip.
“Our car was awesome,” he said. “Buzzy and the boys had this thing on rails, and I’m hoping we can keep the momentum up for next weeks big race in Sydney,”.
