From Port Royal Speedway
Port Royal, PA – (March 25, 2013) – Port Royal Speedway will try for the third time to open its 2013 season with Kids Easter Night on Saturday, March 30 at 5 pm.
The track lost the first two planned events to snow and cold but coming up this week will be 410 sprints, late models and pro stocks for the season lidlifter with gates opening at 3 pm.
The first 200 youth entering the gates will receive a free chocolate Easter Bunny and get the chance to meet sprint car drivers Lance Dewease and Greg Hodnett along with reigning late model champion Tim Wilson.
In addition, the first 400 adult fans passing through the general admission gates for the opener will take home free 2013 Port Royal schedule magnets courtesy of Juniata Beverage located just north of the oval along Rt. 75.
The Easter Bunny will also be on hand for a special appearance despite a weekend schedule that will keep him hopping.
A kids Easter Egg Scramble will be held in the infield immediately following warm ups. Age groups will be 0 – 3, 4 – 7 and 8 – 12.
Thanks to Dippery’s Evergreens of Reedsville, the racing program will offer increased winner’s shares for the sprints and late models.
Dippery’s Evergreens is a landscaping and design contractor located in Reedsville, PA.
Sprint cars will race for $3,300 to win while late models will vie for $1,500 to win. Features, set by draw, will be 25 laps and 20 laps, respectively with pro stocks going 15 laps in distance.
The March 30 season opener will be the debut of double file, “Delaware” style restarts for the super late models at Port Royal.
General admission gates will open at 3 pm, offering $15 adult general admission and $5 for students ages 12 – 18.
