With previous success at the Antioch Speedway, Jonathan Allard had confidence heading into Friday night’s event with the World of Outlaws, but a seventh place finish fell short of expectations for JA and his Williams Motorsports team.
With a stout 35 car field on hand, Allard time his machine in with the 13th fastest lap of the night during qualifications, putting him on the front row of his heat race.
Battling with Cody Darrah over the first couple of laps for the lead, Allard settled into second in his heat, and transferred into both the dash and the feature event.
Starting on the front row of the dash, Allard had a strong start, and grabbed the lead, and never looked back. Winning the dash in convincing fashion, JA would secure a spot on the front row for the 30-lap feature event.
When the green flag waived on the feature, Allard and Shane Golobic raced side by side as they battled for the top spot.
Allard held the position as they got into traffic very early in the race on the tacky bullring.
Leading the first nine laps, things got dicey on lap 10 in heavy lapped traffic. Trying to go high around slower cars, Allard’s machine got tight on him, and he opened the door, and Golobic pounced on the opportunity.
Trying to regroup, Allard slipped back to the sixth spot as he got back going. With the race going non-stop, Allard was never able to get his way back toward the front, and he ended up with a seventh place finish.
“We had a good car all night, and at the start of the feature, it just started getting more difficult to drive as the laps clicked off in the A,” he said. “It’s disappointing when you start on the front row, and don’t get the job done, but we will try again next week.”

ON TAP: Jonathan and his Williams Motorsports team will head south to the Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA on Friday night, and then the Perris Auto Speedway in Lake Perris, CA on Saturday night.
