Cox Fourth in Hanford

PETERSEN MEDIA

Opting to make the tow to the Kings Speedway on Saturday night, Justyn Cox and his Van Dyke Motorsports team came away pleased as Cox scored a fourth place finish with the Rebel Cup Series.

“It was awesome getting to race in Hanford, and overall it was a good night for our team,” Cox said.

With 20 cars on hand, Cox timed in with the fourth quickest lap on the very fast Kings Speedway.

Starting in the third row of his heat, Cox continued to flex his muscle, as he slid past DJ Netto and Dylan Black to score a second place finish and make the feature event inversion.

With the six pill being pulled, JC lined his K&N Products/JSI Shocks/Rodgers Racing engine machine up in the second row of the 30-lap feature event.

With the race being held up with stoppages at the start, it finally got going, and saw a 13-lap green flag run after a lap three restart.

Cox sat in the third spot, as he chased down Brian Brown and Kyle Hirst, as the lead trio broke away from the rest of the field.

On a very hooked up track, the trio found traffic, and raced in a pack as they weaved through the slower cars, and Cox held his own in the third spot.

With just a lap three laps to go, Cox got into turn three a little too deep, and his car bicycled, nearly going over, but the youngster was able to save it. Though he lost the third spot, he would finish the race in the fourth spot.

“We were a second-third place car for sure,” Cox said. “That race was wild, and a ton of fun. I think my front wheels were off the ground more than they were on it, but Harley Van Dyke and quick car under me. We are making strides each race, and I think a win is right around the corner.”

Justyn and his VanDyke Motorsports team would like to thank K&N Products, JSI Shocks, Rodgers Racing Engines,  JRD Endeavors, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, and College Cyclery for their support during the 2013 season.

2013 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-8, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-3

ON TAP: Cox and the Van Dyke Motorsports team hope to be in action this weekend at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA on Friday and at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA on Saturday night.
