Lawrenceburg, IN — (April 20, 2013) –Cullman, Alabama’s Kevin Thomas Jr. won his first USAC national race 2 weeks ago at The Burg. It was also his first win at Lawrenceburg. This past Saturday, he would make it 2-2 in 2013 with starts at Lawrenceburg.

Thomas started from the pole but was penalized for jumping the start, which put him back to the second row. That put CJ Leary to the pole at the drop of the green flag. Leary took off with the lead with Thomas and Darland tracking him. Darland and Thomas were trading sliders through the early part of the race until Thomas was finally able to secure the spot for good. Leary’s car began to develop some handling issues as the lap times began to slow down. This allowed Thomas to make the move around Leary and take the lead. Thomas led the rest of the way to pick up his second win of the year. What added to the excitement of the win for Thomas Jr, is that the team had to change engines between the heat and the feature. Leary finished second followed by Dave Darland, Scotty Weir and Brady Short. Heat Race winners were Leary, Darland, Thomas, Joss Moffatt and Max McGhee. B Main winners were Jarrett Andretti and Coleman Gulick. The Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to the track on Saturday April 27th for Service Men and Women night.
