Scheuerle Wins at Lismore

Lismore, AU — (April 20, 2013) — Multi Queensland Champion Andrew Scheuerle took out the prestigious Sprintcar Gold Cup at Lucas Oil Lismore Speedway Saturday night.

In a great night of Sprintcar action watched by a big crowd, Scheuerle drove a calculated race after he took over the front running in the latter half of the 30-lap main event and was an impressive winner over Danny Reidy and Bryan Mann.

Earlier in the night Scheuerle demonstrated he would be a strong contender for the main event following his impressive win in heat two.

As the Gold Cup final unfolded it was Brock Dean who looked the likely winner after he sped around the outside of A-Dash winner Paul Morris and into the lead.

Soon after Scheuerle was in second position, however interest was further back in the field as Reidy charged into contention after he started out of position eight.

He demonstrated precision passing on the small Lismore bull ring circuit as he raced into third with 16 laps to go.

Lapped traffic aided the front runners in the final ten laps as Scheuerle made his winning move on Dean, while Reidy and Mann also relegated Dean and Morris. The top three of Scheuerle, Reidy and Mann remained unchanged over the remaining laps as Scheuerle held his advantage at the head of the field.

Darren Jensen was the star of the heats with two wins, while Mann also took out a heat. Morris was top pointscorer from the heats (102 points). Next best were Brock Dean (98), Brodie Tulloch (95),Andrew Scheuerle (94), Bryan Mann 93 while Brent Kratzmann (92) rounded out the top six scorers.

In winning the B Dash, David Muir established a new six lap track record of one minute, 18.419 seconds.
