After a couple weeks of bad luck, Jonathan Allard didn’t have the night he had hoped, but when the dust settled he scored a fifth place finish with his Williams Motorsports team on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA.
After a DNF in opening action, Allard’s night started off frustrating as the team wasn’t pleased with the way their fresh engine was running.
“We didn’t even get to hot lap because we were trying to get it right,” Allard said.
Getting it better, JA was able to time in ninth quickest, to put him on the front row of his heat.
In heat race action, Allard still wasn’t thrilled with it as it continued to be sluggish on starts, and restarts, though he would score a second place finish and make the feature event.
Starting 11th in the feature event, JA wasted no time putting his Ashley Smith prepared machine on the top-shelf of the Placerville Speedway.
A 20-lap green flag run, saw the defending series champion make some monster moves around the high, scary, scary side, as he was in the third spot when the final caution flew on lap 24.
The ensuing double file restart, didn’t work to his advantage as he lost a couple of positions and ended his night with a fifth place finish.
“It didn’t start out great, but all-in-all it was a nice night for our team,” he said. “We hurt an engine last night (Friday), and the boys worked their tails off getting this in for tonight. Unfortunately it wasn’t right fresh out of the box, and we went to work and ended up fifth.”
Friday night saw Allard in action at his home track, the Silver Dollar Speedway, and it did not go as planned as he had mentioned.
Scheduled to start on the pole of the feature, Allard noticed something amiss in his engine, and pulled in for the night.
