For the second straight year, it is with great pride that both the Upper Midwest Sprintcar Series (UMSS) and the St. Croix Valley Raceway (SCVR) announce the running of the Davey Tabor Memorial for the UMSS winged sprint cars on Friday night May 24 at the 1/4 mile dirt oval located near St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. As we honor and celebrate the life of sprint car fan, mechanic and car owner Davey Tabor, this special evening will once again prove to be a great night for the sprint car racing community. It will also be the season opener for the UMSS sprint car division, as inclement weather claimed the first four scheduled races.
The Tabor family has generously added an extra $200 for the winner, $100 in positions two through five, $50 to positions six through ten, and an extra $25 for positions eleven through twenty in the UMSS feature race. GRP Motorsports will kick in additional money of $534 in the top ten finishing positions in the UMSS feature, making several positions end in the number “34” as a tribute to and in honor of Dave and Margaret Tabor’s car number. The UMSS will run their usual double-round of qualifying races that evening with drivers earning passing and finishing points in both the Ultimate Sprint Heats and Challenge Races. Each Challenge Race will pay the winner $50 courtesy of the Tabor family. The total added contribution to the purse from the Tabor family on May 24 at SCVR will be $1,200 while GRP Motorsports will kick in $534 plus add additional money to the first place position in the Traditional Sprint Car feature that night making it $334 to win.
The 25 lap UMSS feature race at SCVR on May 24 is currently scheduled to pay out as follows: (1) $1,034, (2) $734, (3) $634, (4) $534, (5) $434, (6) $400, (7) $334, (8) $300, (9) $246, (10) $234, (11-20) $175. The feature race purse will total $6,634. For additional sponsorship opportunities at this event, please contact SCVR track co-owner Ron Bernhagen at 612-363-5302.
Come out and join the racing community on Friday night May 24 at the St. Croix Valley Raceway on what will prove to be a great evening filled with wonderful memories of our friend, Davey Tabor. A memorial tribute, prepared for the first race last year by Margaret Tabor, will be read once again at the event this year. The Tabor Memorial is also part of the UMSS “Six Pack Series” of races which feature added money for the top ten finishers in the mini-series point fund standings. The winner of the first Tabor Memorial was Brooke Tatnell.
