Lake Odessa, MI — (May 28, 2013) — The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series is coming to town for one night only.
On Saturday, I-96 Speedway will host The NAPA Auto Parts Rumble in Michigan, which is the lone event for the premier sprint car series in Michigan.
Among the competitors is World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship points leader Daryn Pittman, who leads the series with five feature wins, 18 top fives, 24 top 10s and six quick time honors.
“It’s actually kinda surprising that it’s the only race in Michigan because every race we’ve ever had in Michigan has had a lot of fans,” he said. “A lot of people like to go to the race. They always get really good turnouts.”
While Pittman hasn’t claimed a feature victory at I-96 Speedway, seven other stars have in the dozen World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series events at the half-mile track.
Steve Kinser has garnered a series-leading four wins with Craig Dollansky and Jason Meyers each winning twice. Sammy Swindell, Jason Sides, Stevie Smith and Joey Saldana have all won one feature, with Saldana claiming the inaugural event in 1995 – his first-ever World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory.
“There’s a lot of fans in that part of the country and that event seems to always have a great turnout,” said Dollansky, who won last year’s NAPA Auto Parts Rumble in Michigan. “We’ll be looking forward to going back.”
