Gregg Fourth at King’s Speedway

Though he crossed the finish line in fourth on Saturday night, Andy Gregg was not too pleased with him self, as he squandered a great front row starting spot.

“The guys worked hard all night, I just was not on my game during restarts, and we slipped back,” Gregg said.

With 44 cars on hand for the Pombo-Sargent Classic, Gregg’s night started off by him timing in 16th fastest during qualifications.

During heat race action, Gregg had problems with his brakes, though was still able to score a fourth place finish, and transfer to the feature event.

With the ‘10’ pill being drawn to set the invert, Gregg would start the feature event from the front row, aboard his Coors Light/LivFast/GUTS Racing No.53 entry.

When the race got underway, Gregg began battling with young Dominic Scelzi as they fought for the lead, with Gregg holding the advantage for the first 13 laps.

The first yellow of the night saw Gregg slip back to the third spot, as he could not seem to get good starts all night.

Hanging inside the top-five all race long, Gregg did all he could on an extremely racy track to get back to the front, but it just was not meant to be on this night.

When the dust settled on the feature event, Gregg found himself crossing the stripe with a fourth place finish.

“When you start on the front row, it is a real disappointment when you cannot take advantage and come away with a win,” he said. “We had some rear-end, brake issues in our heat, and the boys did a great job getting it fixed, and I wish we could of gotten a win.”
