DJ Netto was back in action at the Kings Speedway on Saturday night taking on both the Rebel Cup Series and the Civil War Seires during the Pombo Sargent Classic, and the youngster tallied a sixth place finish.
With 44 cars on hand, Netto timed his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts entry in 10th fastest, putting him in the second heat race of the evening.
Starting in the second row, Netto’s car slipped around on the slick surface, as the Hanford, CA driver could not find the grip he needed to get moving forward, but he held his fourth spot, and transferred into the feature event.
Lining up sixth in the main event, Netto would mix it up with some of the region’s biggest stars in the sport, as the track provided awesome racing action all night long.
In a three-way battle much of the night with Peter Murphy and Steven Tiner, the young driver was able to exchange some impressive slide-jobs with the veteran duo, as he got up to as high as the fifth spot during the action-packed race.
Slipping back to the seventh spot with just a couple laps to go, Netto took advantage of Steven Tiner’s miscue, and stole the sixth spot at the stripe.
“It was a really fun night of racing, and I can’t say enough about the track tonight,” Netto said. “We tweaked on our car all night long, and are getting to where I am comfortable in it. I have to thank all the people who were in our pit area tonight, helping, it really means a lot.”
DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2013.
