Ian Madsen is the first person to say that his team is a little off right now. The last two weekends they have turned in performances below their own standards, as the Australian pilot scored a ninth place finish on Saturday night.

“I am not sure what it is, but we have just been sluggish the last two weeks,” Madsen said. “Dough (Runkle), and myself have been in the shop all week long going over everything, to get us where we need to be.”

Timing in 10th quickest in time trials, Madsen put his KCP Racing/Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric machine in the second row of his heat race.

Heat race action saw the No. 18 machine turn in an awesome performance as Madsen charged to a heat race win, and looked to carry the speed over to the feature event, but they were still a little off.

Lining up in the fifth row of the feature event, Madsen tried everything he could to make a run towards the front, but he couldn’t get the drive he needed and hung just inside the top-ten all night long.

When Doug Clark’s checkered flag waved, it was Madsen finishing in the eighth spot.

“This really is not what we are looking for,” Madsen said. “We’ve made a vow to our supporters to be a contender on a weekly basis, and we are doing whatever it takes to get back to the front this coming weekend.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply, Royal Flooring, Greenland Homes of Iowa, Stepping Stone Genetics, Quality Traffic Control, Factory Kahne, Rider Racing Engines, JRS Excavating, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Smith Precision Products, Moose Blocks, Speedway Motors, Aspen Air Inc.
