Belleville, Kan., July 18—The 36th annual Belleville Midget Nationals on Aug. 1-3 at the Belleville High Banks are now less than two weeks away! Exicitment continues to build with the new format change, which features the return of the United States Auto Club (USAC) as the sanctioning organization, along with The Belleville High Banks Race Committee.
The USAC Honda National Midget Dirt Series will again be the focal points of one of midget racing’s crown jewel events. Joining the three-day series this season will be the TRAXXAS USAC Silver Crown Series. The growing list of midget entries is led by three-time and defending champion Jerry Coons Jr. driving the Joe Dooling No. 63 entry.
Action kicks off on Thursday Aug. 1 for the midgets with the always exciting qualifications around the 1/2-mile high banked clay oval, preliminary races and a 25-lap midget feature race. The Silver Crown Series will hold a practice session during the evening, in preparation for Friday Nights events.
“The Hustle on the High Banks” on Friday Night Aug. 2, will mark the series first ever appearance at the track, with a 50-lap feature. The tracks popular cruiser division will also be competing during the evenings events.
Saturday Aug. 3 will feature last chance races for participants to make the 40-lap feature, midget racing’s most grueling event of the season. A check of $10,000 awaits the winner. The United Rebel Sprint Car Series again returns for the 2nd annual 305 Sprint Nationals.
