Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway will present DMI Camera and Autograph Night this Saturday, August 10 at 7:30 pm featuring racing action with the Aumiller’s Insurance 410 sprints, Gray’s Auto and Towing late models, River Valley Builders 305 sprints and pro stocks.
A candy scramble for ages 12 and under sponsored by DMI of Lancaster will take place on the speedway frontstretch during intermission.
Nearly 100-pounds of candy will be given away to youngsters.
As Camera and Autograph Night, the purchase of a general admission ticket will grant fans admission to the pit area from 5 pm when gates open until 6:15 pm this week.
Adult general admission is $15 with students ages 12 –18 priced at JUST $5.
Racing action will include one of the final four late model shows of the season at the track as bragging rights loom for the 2013 divisional champion.
Currently Port Royal’s Terry Naugle is out front being chased by Herndon’s Brett Schadel in the title chase.
Other late model shows on the remaining 2013 slate of events include August 17, August 31 and September 6.
In the 410 sprint class, points are tightening between current leader Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove and defending track champion Chad Layton of Harrisburg.
After August 10, the sprints have just six point shows left on the 2013 schedule.
August 17 will see the track host Keith Kauffman Farewell Tribute Night as fans get a chance to take part in a special night commemorating the career of Kauffman who has announced his retirement from the sport at season’s end.
Kauffman is the undisputed king of Port Royal throughout history, having earned more wins and track titles than any other driver.
Sprints will vie in a 33-lap main event with late models going 21-laps in their feature. Increased purses will be in effect with the sprint winner earning $5,000 while late models race for $2,100 to win.
There will be no increase in general admission for the night so that Kauffman fans from far and wide can come see the legend and their hero race just one more time before he hangs up his helmet.
Special guests will be on hand for the event to honor Kauffman while a special presentation is made as well.
The URC sprints will invade Port Royal on August 24 as part of Open Wheel Madness along with the 410 sprints and 305 sprints.
