Looking to repeat his June performance at the Stockton-99 Speedway, Willie Croft had a great night going, but an issue in the feature event ultimately knocked him out of the feature event early.
With 25 cars on hand Saturday night, Willie Croft started his night off on the right foot by timing his Tri-C Machine/JRI Shocks/NAAKE backed entry in with the fastest lap during time trials.
Starting in the second row of his heat, Croft benefitted from the front row jumping, and he moved up to the front row, and scored a second place finish on a very fast, and hooked up track.
Pulling the ‘two’ pill for the dash, Croft got the jump, and went on to set a blistering pace to pick up the Dash win and put his Holey Smokes BBQ/Christian Stover Foundation/ButlerBuilt on the pole for the 30-lap feature.
The start of the feature was where it went south for the Sacramento, CA pilot, as he took the green flag, and went into the first turn, and his car bicycled, and he got upside down, and elected to go to the work area.
After his crew and others feverishly worked to get him on the track, they made the call, but his machine still had issues.
Croft restarted the race, but ran eight laps, and elected to pull off, as he was credited with a 21st place finish.
“We had a fast racecar all night, and I hate this for our guys, and the Lamar’s,” Croft said. “I have to thank them for working so hard to get us on the track, but the track was so hooked up, it was going to be hard for us to get any positions, and we still didn’t quite have everything put back together.”
The Tri-C Motorsports team would like to thank Tri-C Machine, JRI Shocks, NAAKE Suspension, Holey Smokes BBQ, The Christian Stover Foundation, ButlerBuilt, Arai, Brown and Miller, Sander Engineering, FK Rod Ends, Hinchman Indy, Schoenfeld, K&N, Smith Precision Products, A.R.T., Kaeding Performance, Dan Olson Products, Vortex Wings, AIC Powdercoating, and GUTS for their support in 2013.
2013 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-37, Wins-5, Top 5’s-17, Top 10’s-23.
ON TAP: Croft and the Tri-C Motorsports team will continue to chase after the King of the West Crown this Saturday night at the Reno Tahoe Fernley Raceway.
