With 28 cars on hand, Madsen timed his Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply No. 18 in 11th fastest, putting him in the second row of the second heat.

On a very wet and fast race track, the St. Mary’s, NSW driver was able to score a second place finish, putting him in the feature event, but he found himself starting in the 14th spot.

On the very tough, technical track, Madsen was able to do what many cars were unable to and that was pass cars, and Madsen was able to pass cars at will.

Getting up into the second spot with just a couple of laps remaining, Madsen tried to lap a car, but got up over the cushion, and slipped back to the fourth spot.

With just two laps to go, he was unable to regain those positions, and settled for a fourth place finish.

“We had a really good car on what was a very technical track,” he said. “We got up to second, but just hooked a rut and got over the cushion, and fell back to fourth.”
