Sydney, AU — (October 26, 2013) — Comeback king Adrian Maher used the high line to perfection in the 30 lap sprintcar track championship round at Valvoline Raceway.
Maher, a driver with a strong and impressive record at the metro west circuit, has been missing from local competition after parking is #10 car towards the end of last season.
The timing for a return was near perfect with Maher charging to the front of the pack with American Kody Kinser in hot pursuit.
The longer the race went the harder Kinser worked the inside line until he found a way past Maher who appeared to catch him by surprise.
Almost at the same moment two cars touched which brought on the caution light and placed Maher back in front on the restart.
Veteran Max Dumesny, driving the Valvoline machine, stormed under Kinser to take over second while Kinser held on to third and Victorian Ryan Davis a solid fourth.
Maher flashed across the line to take the Valvoline trophy and thanked his sponsors, including Blackshaws and Valvoline.
Track curator Cameron Ware joined the upside down club with a gentle roll, followed by NT ace Troy David who made an impressive debut.
Surface conditions were close to ideal, proof of this being litre sprint headliner D.J. Raw who smashed the 12 lap mark to follow up on his good form at the last meeting.
