Delmar, DE — (March 17, 2014) — Andy Best of Dover, DE is busy preparing for the coming racing season which will include some Rislone URC Sprint Series events. An automotive painter by trade, Andy Best will once again have his 88b sprint car racing on the 360 sprint car circuit. Best is a one-time feature winner with URC and that first win came his way in April 2010 at the Delaware International Speedway.
Andy started his career in 1992 racing go-karts and it just happens that his racing career highlight came behind the wheel of his go-kart. “To this day, winning the world finals on dirt in Daytona in 1996, and in two of the three classes we ran that season, was my biggest accomplishment”, commented Best.
Best advanced to sprint cars in 2009 for his rookie year with URC and just one year later, scored that very first feature win. “Ted Baker and Ken Darling probably played the biggest part in helping me get into sprint cars”, said Best.
“A good night for us is a win and at this point a top five finish. The championship doesn’t interest our team and we don’t have the budget to do it, so for now, we’re going after wins”, said Best.
Andy also shared his view on winning races. “I believe if you’re planning on winning races you have to be willing to gamble on set-up”. Best continued to say, “On any given night in URC, there are eight to ten drivers that can win races”. In the coming year, the competition is expected to be very keen with drivers like Eric Riggins, Josh Weller, Curt Michael, Brian Carber, Ed Aikin, Kevin Darling, Davie Franek, Jonathan Swanson, Randy West and Robbie Stillwaggon.
URC’s season will open with a two race weekend in the Carolina’s on Friday, April 11 at the Carolina Speedway and on Saturday night, April 12 at the Lancaster Speedway. Both of these events are non-point races. URC’s first point race of the season will take place at the Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night, April 19 at the Selinsgrove Speedway. This will be the first of six race dates at Selinsgrove.
