CALISTOGA, Calif. (March 31, 2014) – Fans in the Napa region of California get a double dose of World of Outlaws Sprint Car racing this Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6 at Calistoga Speedway.

Last year’s event at this horse racing track turned horsepower track, was rained out, so fans and Outlaws drivers alike will be treated to a doubleheader this year.

Joey Saldana, driver of the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop 71M Sprint Car, has some unfinished business at this track.  He has never scored a victory at this half-mile clay oval, but it is on his list of tracks to conquer.

“We have just raced the bullring in Merced last weekend which requires a tremendous amount of heads up racing because the track is so small and you are always in traffic,” said Saldana.  “Calistoga will be much faster and it will take longer for lapped traffic to play a factor.

“We have been qualifying well this season and we look forward to continuing our solid performances in that regard. A strong qualifying effort helps set you up for a good run in the heats and the dash.  Our goal is to win more races.  We have led laps and had some good runs.  We won the All Star event in Barberville, Fla. at the beginning of the season, but we’re looking to add to our Outlaws victory tally.”

Saldana and the Motter Motorsports team have scored four quick times this season, more than any other driver.  They have set one track record (Stockton, Calif.) and have four top 5 finishes and seven top 10 finishes.

Following this weekend’s doubleheader in Calistoga there is one more weekend of racing in California to conclude Spring Break.
