– Slowly kicking off his 2014 campaign in the Midwest, Hanford, CA native, turned Avon, IN resident, Chad Boespflug and a back and forth feature event Saturday night that ultimately saw him bring own an 11th place finish aboard his self owned, No. 98 machine Saturday night in Putnamville, IN.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Boespflug got the early jump, but a couple laps into the race, the yellow flag waived, bunching the field back up. The ensuing restart, saw Thomas Meseraul sneak by for the lead, and Boespflug would settle for second, putting him in the fifth row for the feature event.
On a track that was a bit rough, Boespflug saddled up, and moved into the fifth position by the fifth lap, as he bounced his Midwest Shades/ButlerBuilt/Creative Finishing entry around the track.
Working on the fourth place car, Boespflug bounced through a hole in turn three that nearly sent his machine on a wild ride, but he was able to get it on all fours, but in doing so got a left rear flat, and brought out the yellow.
‘My guys, Eric Chambers, and Brian Stanfill did a great job in the work area getting me fixed up and back on the track quickly,” Boespflug said.
Restarting from the tail of the field, Boespflug continued to fight, as he worked his way back up to the 10th spot, as the race began it’s home stretch.
In a three car fight for 8th on the last lap, Boespflug got hung up behind a slower car, and was forced to check up, and he slid back to an eleventh place finish.
“It was a much better weekend than our first two nights,” Boespflug said. “We were able to do some testing with our new FK Shock package, and that helped us out a ton. I am looking forward to getting into the Hazen car next weekend and competing with him for his 57th year of racing.”
