Back aboard his GUTS Racing entry over the weekend for a pair of 410ci races, Andy Gregg picked up a fourth place finish at the Silver Dollar Speedway before a wild finish in Placerville, CA on Saturday
night saw him get upside down just short of the checkered flag.
Visiting Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, Gregg timed his Miller Fortune/Poor’s Equipment Repair/K&N entry in fourth fastest.
On a track that stayed very heavy and fast all night, Gregg started and finished fourth in his heat race, putting him in the feature event, where he rolled off in the fifth spot.
The feature event saw Gregg settle into the fifth spot, as he laid the hammer down, looking for a way to pick up a position or two.
On the eighth circuit, Gregg took advantage of a Rico Abreu spin, and picked up the fourth spot.
With passing very tough, Gregg would hang on to the fourth place finish, and head to his home track, Placerville Speedway, on Saturday night to take on the King of the West Series.
With 35 cars checked in, Gregg timed in seventh fastest, and again finish in the fourth spot of his heat race, putting him in the feature event.
Missing out on the Dash, Gregg lined up in the 11th spot, for what was a very wild feature event.
Getting up as high as the sixth spot, Gregg was in a tight battle with a pack of four cars that you could ‘throw a blanket over’.
Slipping back to the 10th spot on a final restart, Gregg was coming to take the checkered flag when he clipped the front stretch wall, and flipped, resulting in him being credited with a 15th place finish.
“We had plenty of speed both nights,” Gregg said. “Friday night it was really heavy, and you couldn’t pass, and then on Saturday we were pretty good, but just had a fiasco coming to the checkered flag, that resulted in us getting upside-down.”
Andy would like to thank Miller Fortune, Poor’s Equipment Repair, K&N, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, FK Shocks, Wilwood, Capitol Ace Hardware, 95.7 The Wolf, CTL Forrest Management, Nail Roofing, Meyers and Sons Drywall, Ervin Sales Group, Hansen Machine, K&T Fab, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Amerikote, and Hinchman for their support in 2014.
ON TAP: Gregg will be in action for sure on Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, and as of now is unsure about Saturday’s Civil War event in Petaluma, CA.
2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-8, Wins-1, Top 5’s-6, Top 10’s-6
