Civil War Sprint Car Series Presented By Flowmaster Roars Back To Life Saturday Night

 PETERSEN MEDIA-Aptos, CA

With Mother Nature washing out the second scheduled race at the Antioch Speedway in late March, the best 360ci drivers in the region come together again this Saturday night, for the first time in over a month,  at the Petaluma Speedway as the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster makes their first of two stops at the speedway

This night of racing will be part of a double-header weekend for the Prentice Motorsports group, and if a driver can win at the Ocean Speedway on Friday night, and at Petaluma on Saturday, they will take home the Double Down Blackjack Bonus Presented By Tachi Palace worth a cool , $2121, making their payday a lucrative $5621 if they can pull it off.

The award is a tribute to the Tarlton family who competes regularly with PMG, but as Tommy’s wife recovers from health issues, he has stepped away from racing for the time being.

If the opening event at the Marysville Raceway Park in mid March was any indication of what the series will offer in 2014, the event this Saturday night is can’t miss as the action is always exciting at the Petaluma Speedway on the famous black clay.

During the series opener it was Andy Gregg besting the star studded field, but behind Gregg, fans were treated to some great passing as second finishing Geoff Ensign charged from 12th, fourth finishing Herman Klein, charged from the back of the B, and the back of the A in what was an impressive run, and fifth finishing Andy Forsberg charged from the back after having to make a trip to the work area, showing just how talented the field is.

At the time of press early point leader, Andy Gregg is unsure of his attendance, and a red hot Geoff Ensign is hot on his tail after one event, and with this event being at his home track, where he has been on a terror in 2014, Ensign will look to stay hot and give Bret Lay his first Civil War win.

During the series’ last event at the Petaluma Speedway in September of 2013, Sean Becker powered to the win in a race that gave him the series point lead for the final time before claiming the Championship. After a podium finish at the opener, Becker and his new Main Motorsports team will look to build on Becker’s past success at the speedway.

Another local driver in the mix is Penngrove, CA native, Alissa Geving. Mixing her past success at the Petaluma Speedway, the former track champion was in the hunt during the series opener and was one of the strongest cars on the track until a late race spin knocked her out of the second spot.

Following his very impressive opening night run, Herman Klein and his Josh Bates team have spent the last two weeks at the Petaluma Speedway in preparation for this event, and both the team and driver are feeling very confident as they come into the event fresh off of two third place finishes, as they continue to have a very strong start to their season.

Other drivers that are expected to be in competition are Shane Golobic, who has three series wins at the speedway, Jonathan Allard, seven-time series champion, Andy Forsberg, Steven Tiner, Matt Peterson, Jeremy Burt, who has picked up a win at the Marysville Raceway Park in recent weeks, Justyn Cox, Justin Sanders, Willie Croft, and many more talented drivers.
