The Rislone URC Sprint Series will return to the Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, PA on Saturday night, May 10 for the ninth running of the Jack Gunn Memorial presented by MACH 1 Chassis. Jack Gunn was one of the legendary promoters of sprint car racing in the country and was a former promoter of the Selinsgrove Speedway. The 30 lap 360 sprint feature will pay an impressive $3,500 to the winner, $1,700 for second, $1,200 for third, $1,100 for fourth and $1,000 to finish fifth. Tenth will pay $500 with $225 being offered just to start the main event. Race time is 7:30 PM.
Defending winners of the MACH 1 Chassis Jack Gunn Memorial include JJ Grasso in 2013, Blane Heimbach (2012), Shane Stewart (2011), Trevor Lewis in (2009 & 2010), Blane Heimbach again in 2008, Dave Calaman in 2007 and Heimbach was again the winner in 2006, when this tradition began.
The MACH 1 Chassis event always brings out the best 360 sprint cars to include URC drivers like eight time champion Curt Michael along with Davie “No Panic” Franek, Josh “the Wild Child” Weller, Robbie Stillwaggon, “The Carolina Kid” Eric Riggins, Brian Carber, Chad Trout, Dan Mazy, Andy Best, Troy Betts, Randy West and Jason Clauss.
URC will be gearing up for a two race weekend on May 16 and May 17. On Friday night, May 16 URC will return to the Bedford Speedway for a $2,000 to win event. The following night, Saturday, May 17 the Rislone URC Sprints will make their first visit to the Delaware International Speedway for the Kramer Williamson Memorial. Kramer, one of the all-time URC greats, lost his life in a sprint car crash in 2013 at the Lincoln Speedway.
The Kramer Williamson Memorial will offer an additional $4,000 in prize money posted by a long list of sponsors. Each feature position will pay an additional $73 in memory of Kramer Williamson and, the eighth place finisher will pick up an additional $108 in memory of URC’s Midge Miller. Each feature lap will pay the race leader $73 and lap eight will pay $108 to the race leader. The halfway, lap 13 race leader will earn $528. Heats, the “B” Main, Fast Time and Hard Charger will also earn an additional $73. In additional, a paid provisional will be added to the starting field.
