Ed Aikin of Lincoln University, PA is off to a strong start with the Rislone URC Sprint Series, setting the early lead in the season long point chase. With eight career URC wins to his credit, Aikin is returning to a track he could almost call home. Prior to racing with URC, Aikin competed in both the weekly Late Models and 358 Modifieds at the one-third mile high banked Grandview Speedway.
There are two 25 lap URC sprint features on the Sunday, May 25 event and Aikin has the pole starting position in one of the two features. He knows Grandview very well and certainly has an advantage, but again, it is Grandview and anything can happen. Winning both URC features on May 25 would earn a minimum of $4,000.
Joining Aikin at Grandview will be Brian Carber, recent winner of the Kramer Williamson Memorial this past Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway. Davie “No Panic” Franek will be looking for his first win of the season along with Randy West, Josh Weller, The Carolina Kid Eric Riggins, Troy Betts, Jonathan Swanson along with Billy Pauch JR turning the wheel of the Keith Prutzman sprint car.
On Sunday night, May 25, gates will open at 5 PM with the first of seven feature events taking the green flag at 7:30 PM. Along with the two URC features, there will be two 358 Modified features, plus single features for the ARDC Midgets, Sportsman and Legend cars.
General admission for adults is $20, children 6-11 is $10, children under 6 will be admitted for free. The pit fee is $30 with a license and $35 without a license.
In the event of rain, Monday, May 26 will be the rain date with a 6 PM starting time.
Come out early for the FANFEST beginning at 4 PM. DJ with music, free hot dogs, chips and snacks plus a pre-race autograph session, pit tours and fun and games.
