Peoria, AZ — (September 22, 2014) — After a seemingly extended absence, non-wing Sprint Cars return to the 1/3-mile Canyon Speedway Park clay oval this Saturday night.
And they return in grand style with the $2,500-to-win “Brawl for It All” pitting the home-based USAC Southwest forces versus the USAC West Coast Sprint Cars.
While the Sprint Cars brawl for it all, the Micro Sprints, Dwarf Cars and AMA Mod Lites will be in action as well on Saturday night with the green flag flying at 7:00 p.m.
The USAC Southwest Sprint Cars last took to the CSP clay on July 26 with R.J. Johnson reeling off his third consecutive series score at the track near the Phoenix metro area.
Johnson, the reigning series champion, has been a recent tear with the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars by sweeping all three nights of Border Tour action at El Paso, Las Cruces and Tularosa before adding a fourth consecutive win at Queen Creek on September 6.
Chargin’ Charles Davis, Jr., finally put a stop to Johnson’s run by taking victory honors in Saturday’s series return to Case Grande. Davis, Jr., who scored a CSP win on April 26, is 130 points off Johnson’s lead pace in series points with Josh Pelkey, winner of two CSP features this year, another nine points back in third.
Shon Deskins and Matt Rossi round out the current top five in USAC Southwest points with the rest of the top ten including Mike Martin, Tye Mihocko, Andrew Reinbold, Michael Curtis and Nick Aiuto.
West Coast shoe Mike Spencer, the reigning “Brawl for It All” winner, is expected for Saturday night’s action as well. The Temecula, CA, hotshoe beat Colby Copeland and Pelkey to the line in last year’s “Brawl for It All” after Davis, Jr., topped the inaugural event in 2012.
Saturday’s card also mark the return of Micro Sprints after a two month absence as well, with Jarrett Martin the most recent winner on July 26.
The Dwarf Cars and AMA Mod Lites are in action for the second consecutive weekend. Tim Cotherman and Pat Hennessey split Dwarf Car honors this past weekend while Tyler Merrill and Josh Rivera took AMA Mod Lite victories.
Tickets to Saturday’s Third Annual “Brawl for It All” are just $15 with a $2 discount for Military, Seniors and Students. Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children 6 and under admitted free. VIP passes are available for $20 each night.
