Port Royal, PA — (February 2, 2015) — Port Royal Speedway is the place to be for sprint car and late model racing during the upcoming 2015 racing season, set to kick off in March before ending with a three-week run on October 10, 17 and 24.
The just released 2015 slate of events features nearly 40 total sprint car events including competition for 410 sprints, 305 sprints, URC sprints and the super sportsman.
And the super late models have been taken up a notch for the year ahead with their total shows jumping up to 22 in total to go along with some 14 shows for the now popular yet relatively new 355-econo late models.
Also appearing will be xtreme stocks, legends, four cylinders and the All American Outlaws.
The season gets started at Port Royal on Saturday, March 14 at 6 pm with the 410 sprints and super late models, paying $3,500 and $2,000 to win, respectively.
Back in the fold this season at Port Royal will be the USAC, All Stars and World of Outlaws sprint cars.
Under the leadership of new series owner Tony Stewart, the Port Royal All Stars invasions on April 25 for the Bob Weikert Memorial and for the two-day Tuscarora 50 races in September should be bigger and better than ever.
The wingless stars of USAC will return to the oval on June 6 along with the popular ARDC Midgets and the EMMR/Penn Central Racing Reunion.
And the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will put an exclamation point on the 2015 season with the final oval show of the year on October 25.
But before that October 25 WoO finale, here’s some notes to know about the year ahead at Port Royal Speedway:
n October will be big! The outlaws will end it but the month starts Oct. 10 with the Blue Collar Classic for Keystone RaceSaver 305 sprints followed by Open Wheel Madness on Oct. 17 featuring the 410 sprints and the return of the URC Sprints. The Oct. 17 show will merge two popular events at the oval as the grounds host Port Royal Fall Foliage Days, a local trademark craft and fall festival during the daytime, followed by a big Open Wheel Madness show featuring a knockout sprint twin bill with exciting formats to be announced!
n UFO Late Models Are Back! The revived UFO Late Model circuit hits the track twice in 2015, featuring big late model stars racing for big late model money including in the Butch Renninger Memorial to start the Juniata County Fair on September 5. A revision to an earlier announced Port Royal date now has the series visiting the track on June 20 instead of in May.
n Old Reliables! The Bob Weikert Memorial is bigger and better this year, paying $15,000 to win for a 40-lap feature on April 25. Pennsylvania Speedweek is July 4. The Dream Race is August 8. Labor Day again features daytime sprint racing on September 7 with the two-day Tuscarora 50 races ending the week Friday and Saturday.
n Established promotions return! Back for another year on the schedule due to their successes in previous seasons is a number of favorite fan nights including Fan Appreciation on June 13 featuring $10 adult general admission, Free Student Night May 2, Moon Shine Camo Night May 30, Kids Night July 11, EMS Night July 18, Salute To The Military Night August 1, a pair of $1Hot Dog Nights on April 11 and August 15 and four Camera and Autograph Nights.
n Memorial Saturday stays big! For the third year in a row the Memorial Day Saturday program will feature the Fallen Heroes Championships for 410 sprints and super late models plus 305 sprints and Fireworks on May 23 along with Pepsi and Packer’s Concessions Night.
n Other stock car races to watch! A super late model championship will be run July 11 while other highlights include the Late Model Speedweek Charlie Grinestaff Memorial on May 30 including 410 sprints, Manufacturer’s Appreciation August 1and inclusion in the Dream Race August 8. Econo lates will have championship races on June 6 and September 12 plus a manufacturer’s race on July 18. An xtreme stock championship is slated for August 1.
n ITTPA Tractor Pulls! A pair of dates for the Interstate Truck and Tractor Pullers are again slated at the track, on June 27 and September 6 during the Juniata County Fair. Both shows have been proven to be wildly exciting and crowd pleasing.
n Last but not least! The annual Juniata County Fair is always chock full of racing including on Labor Day, the Tuscarora 50 and the fair opener. But again this year a Demolition Derby is set for Labor Day evening while the afternoon Labor races feature free fair admission and JUST $10 race admission. Free fair admission is also again being offered for the two-day Tuscarora 50 races on September 11 and 12.
