Port Royal – Weikert’s Livestock of Fairfield has taken ownership of title sponsorship of the 410 sprint car division at Port Royal Speedway as was announced Saturday night at the track.
Synonymous with sprint car racing in the annals of history, the famous family business now in its third generation of ownership has proudly partnered with the track to fly the Port Royal sprint car flag.
“We’re awful proud of what we do and what we’ve accomplished,” says Weikert’s Livestock owner and president Todd Weikert of the day-to-day operations at the multi-million dollar firm.
“And we’re just as proud of Port Royal for what it’s become over the last five years and a stronger relationship with Port Royal just makes good sense for us,” Weikert says.
In late April, Todd Weikert announced in conjunction with Port Royal officials that the annual, prestigious Bob Weikert Memorial will expand to a two-day format at the historic oval in 2016, spanning the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
The Weikert name rose to prominence on the back of the famed Weikert’s Livestock No. 29 sprint car during the decades of the 1970s, 80s and early 90s.
With the car campaigning from coast to coast including at Port Royal, experiencing unprecedented success, Bob Weikert’s forays in the sport laid groundwork for the current prosperity being experienced at Weikert’s Livestock.
Weikert’s Livestock buys and sells cattle from coast to coast with more than 50-percent of its clientele placed west of the Mississippi.
“A big part of our clients are race enthusiasts,” says Todd Weikert, “It’s a network.”
In addition to the commerce they conduct in the livestock trade, the firm also owns and operates some 600 acres of farmland in south central Pennsylvania.
