A race that pays homage to the late Mark Forni, who was a staple in the Placerville community, has been a must see event at the Speedway over the last nine years. With the community coming together year-after-tear to make this event special, this year’s event is a little bigger as it will offer $10,000 to the winner in honor of it being the 10th Annual Mark Forni Classic.
The highly touted Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster will head to the Placerville Speedway to take on the strong Placerville Speedway contingent on Saturday night in what will be a must-see event.
Along with a strong mix of the region’s top 360ci drivers, a handful off of the top 410 drivers in the state are also planning to make the trip to the high-banked ¼ mile speedway on Saturday night in hopes of capturing Mark Forni Classic Supremacy.
During the race’s nine-year existence, the Placerville Speedway locals have reigned supreme during this event, and on Saturday night the stars and cars of the Civil War Series will look to change that and make off with the loot.
The hottest driver in California right now, Justin Sanders, comes into this event fresh off of picking up his 13th win of the season one week ago, and also enters the event as the series’ most recent winner. Sanders had immense success on the red-clay during the 2014 season and will look to extend his current series point lead.
Chico, CA wheelman, Jonathan Allard has thrown his hat into the ring for this weekend’s event and he comes in as the series’ lone repeat winner in 2015. Allard has been strong in his limited appearances with the Civil War Series in 2015 and is hungry for a marquee win.
Sean Becker comes into Saturday night’s race looking for his third consecutive win at the Placerville Speedway, and also look to score his third Mark Forni Classic crown. Though he has won the last two weekly shows aboard the Monhoff Motorsports machine, Becker will be in action on Saturday night aboard the potent Menne Motorsports No. 75 machine.
2014 Mark Forni Classic Champ, Greg DeCaires, will look to keep the race win local. Decaires has been the king of the Placerville Speedway as he has picked up five wins already and won the Civil War event at the Speedway back on May 30th.
Other drivers that are expected to be in action on Saturday night are Andy Forsberg, Shane Golobic, Robbie Price, Bradley Terrell, Andy Gregg, Jimmy Trulli, Kyle Hirst, Tyler Walker, Carson Macedo, Steven Tiner, Cory Eliason, Ryan Robinson, Koen Shaw, and many more of the regions best.
Saturday night, front gates are set to open at 5pm with tickets staring at $6 for Children 6-11, $15 Juniors and Seniors, and $18 dollars for adults.
