From Will Hull
Bradford, Vt (8/15/15) – There is a saying at Bear Ridge when the weather interferes with racing: “If anyone can get a race in, Butch can”. After a 2 hour rain delay and some great track preparation, racing got underway for all divisions with a “features only” night. For the NAPA/Ossipee Auto Parts Sprint Cars of New England this was race 10 of the 17 race 2015 tour.
Part-time SCoNE racer Butch Valley, making his 3rd start of the 2015 season and being low in the points, started on the pole and man did he take advantage of it. Butch jumped out to a substantial lead and looked strong on the smooth, fast track. On the restart for a lap 4 yellow, brought out by the spinning cars of Will Hull and Chris Donnelly, young Tyler Austin fell in behind Butch looking for an opportunity to pass. At lap 18 of the 25 lap race, with Scott Holcomb and Dan Douville closing in on the leaders, Tyler had to make his move on the leader. Tyler dove under Butch in turn 1, but his car didn’t stick and around he went; ending his hopes for his first SCoNE win. On the restart, points leader Dan Douville got past Scott Holcomb and charged after Butch. Dan tried the inside and the outside on Butch, but when he slapped the wall on the homestretch, Butch was home free taking his first SCoNE win with Dan in second and Scott taking third. Another incredible show by the Sprint Cars of New England.
The next race on the NAPA/Ossipee Auto Parts 2015 sprint car tour is Horsch Garage Equipment night at Legion Speedway on Sunday August 23th. Get the latest SCoNE news and information at www.NESprintCars.com and on the SCoNE Facebook page atwww.facebook.com/nesprintcars – Come Race With Us –
