Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway will present Food Pantry Night & Church Youth Group Night this Saturday, August 22 at 7 pm.
The oval will host members of area youth groups for the event that features racing with the Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprints, super late models and the River Valley Builders 305 sprints.
A donation to the Juniata Valley Food Pantry upon arrival at the event will also earn those who donate a special $2 discount coupon to be used toward the purchase of a general admission ticket.
The 410 sprint car race on August 22 will be extra special for the sprint racers with the regular 25-lap feature paying $4,000 to win in honor of late push truck driver Bill Long.
Thanks to Sterling Trucking of Morrisdale, a total of $2,000 in addition to the regular purse will be distributed to the top five feature finishers in the sprint car main event.
Top five payoff for the 410 sprints this week is as follows: $4,000 – $2,100 – $1,500 – $1,200 – $1,100.
The 305 sprints will compete in their final regular season event on Saturday before putting a cap on their 2015 Port Royal campaign in the annual Blue Collar Classic coming up at the track on October 10.
The August 22 program also features a bus ride around the speedway for select youth.
Saturday, August 29 will be Locust Grove Retirement Night at the speedway featuring the only appearance of the season by the popular super sportsman cars.
The 410 sprints and super late models are also on the racing program along with a kids bus ride.
Tuscarora 50 laps remain on sale for the upcoming event. Laps are available on race nights at a price of $25/lap.
