SELINSGROVE, Pa. (April 26, 2016) – Dale Blaney returned to Victory Lane for the second time in four Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions points races this season and this time he did so against the vaunted Pennsylvania Posse.

Blaney guided the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., backed CH Motorsports team to the triumph during the inaugural Keith Kauffman Classic last Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., to highlight a busy weekend.

“We were fortunate to go to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and have that problem and not have that come up on Saturday at Port Royal,” he said. “That could have put us way, way behind.”

The weekend began on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., where Blaney qualified ninth quickest before the rear end broke in his car causing the engine to rev up during a heat race at the half-mile oval. The team scratched from the remainder of that night’s event and changed both the rear end and engine prior to Saturday’s event.

“We rebounded really good on Saturday,” he said. “We were really fast all night long and put ourselves in a good position with a good time trial lap. Our whole night was made in the heat. We had to get to second to get in the dash.”

Blaney, who qualified seventh quickest overall and the fastest in his heat race group, powered from fourth to win the heat race. That locked him into the dash, where he advanced from fourth to second place to start the main event on the outside of the front row.

“I learned a little something in the dash and the car was good from the get-go in the A Main,” he said. “Getting the jump was huge. Getting out in clean air was huge. (Steve) Buckwalter was so good in the dash I felt like I needed to get the jump on him. I got the jump and I felt really good. I could get in the corner good, through the center and the exit was good. I knew somebody had to be really, really good to keep up with us.”

Blaney led all 30 laps to score his second All Star win and third triumph overall this season.

“That was a special win, the first Keith Kauffman Classic,” he said. “It was cool to have him in Victory Lane with us.”

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday during the Ray Tilley Classic at Selinsgrove Speedway, where Blaney timed in second quickest in qualifying and advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race to lock into the dash. Unfortunately, he pulled the highest number – eight – to start the dash on the outside of the fourth row.

“We put ourselves in good position with a good time trial lap,” he said. “I thought it was really good. We were ok in the heat race. I kinda cruised around there. The dash draw definitely hurt drawing an eight, but you’ll have times you draw a bad number. The only thing we can control is how fast our race car is.

“I didn’t feel like our car was great in the A Main. If we could have got it a little better we might have challenged for a podium spot. I just needed some drive on exit. The bad thing is we had a red about halfway through so I had an opportunity to make the car better. We didn’t go as far as we should have with it.”

Blaney posted a fourth-place result, which gave him the lead in the All Star championship standings.

He is scheduled to return to competition this Saturday at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, with the All Stars.
