– QUINCY, Mich. (June 14, 2016) – Dale Blaney has momentum on his side entering Ohio Speedweek, which kicks off its eight Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions races in nine days this weekend.
Blaney and the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports team captured an All Star event last Saturday at Butler Speedway. The win was Blaney’s fifth at the track, which leads the series.
The night began with Blaney timing in third quickest in qualifying before placing fourth in a heat race. That locked him into the dash redraw, where he pulled the No. 1 to start the dash on the pole.
“That set us up for the rest of the night,” he said. “As long as we got into turn one ok, which we did in the dash and the feature, I was going to have to make a serious mistake to lose it.”
Blaney led the distance of both the dash and the main event to score his fourth All Star win of the season and 131st of his career. It also extended his lead in the championship standings to 54 points.
Last weekend began on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, where Blaney qualified second quickest and advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race to make the feature redraw.
“We drew a six out of 12,” he said. “We just didn’t take advantage of starting sixth. We tried a little different stuff than what we’ve been running to experiment and test a little bit. I just wasn’t real good in the feature. The last half of it I stayed stagnant.”
Blaney finished fourth in the main event.
He will return to action as Ohio Speedweek begins on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, before events on Saturday at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio; Sunday at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio; Monday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio; Tuesday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio; Wednesday (June 22) at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio; Friday (June 24) at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio; and Saturday (June 25) at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
“I feel like we’ve been running really good and consistent,” he said. “All the race tracks we’re going to I like and we’ve won at. I feel really good that we’re going to go in and have a good car every night.”
