PORT ROYAL, Penn. (October 3, 2016) — Port Royal Speedway will present the 5th annual Blue Collar Classic featuring the Keystone RaceSaver Interregional Challenge for IMCA 305 sprint cars this Saturday, October 8 at 5 pm.
The race is the biggest event for IMCA 305 sprint cars in the east with this years total 305 sprint posted purse topping $15,000 including $1,400 to win the main event and a payout for a special Founder’s Cup race for all non-qualifiers.
Hosted by the PASS – PA Sprint Series region of RaceSaver 305s, the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge brings together multiple IMCA 305 sprint regions to compete with the PASS drivers including the TSRS – Tri State RaceSaver region, CRSA – Capitol Region Sprint Agency, VSS – Virginia Sprint Series, and the Laurel Highlands region.
Also in action at the Blue Collar Classic will be limited late models (355/358 engines), xtreme stocks and mid-atlantic modifieds.
The limited late models and the xtreme stocks will both race for $1,000 to win their feature events.
Gates for the big show open at 3 pm with adult general admission priced at $15 and students ages 12 –18 priced at $7.
Currently, some 54 sprint teams have pre-registered for the big IMCA 305 sprint car event.
Tow money of $100 has been posted for the 305 sprint cars.
Jeff Miller of Huntingdon is the defending Port Royal Keystone RaceSaver Challenge champion having taken the event in 2015.
Jeff Geiges of Hamilton, NJ., scored in 2014 with Jake Waters winning in 2013 and Sean Campbell taking the inaugural event in 2012.
Waters will help announce the 305-sprint portion of this Saturday’s program, still recovering from critical burn injuries sustained in a racing accident in July
Special prizes and contingencies will be awarded to all sprint car teams who compete in the event with some special fan prizes up for grabs as well.
Top prize for fans will be a flat screen TV.
The conclusion of the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge will also crown the 2016 Port Royal River Valley Builders 305 sprint series champion.
Port Royal Speedway returns to action on October 15 with the World of Outlaws sprint cars at 5 pm followed by the final show of the season on October 22, Open Wheel Madness featuring twin 30-lap features for the 410 sprints and the URC sprints.
