FRESNO, Calif. (Dec. 5, 2016) – Dominic Scelzi has an opportunity of a lifetime in front of him.
Scelzi is leaving this week to race a 410ci winged sprint car in Australia approximately 16 times for Wormall Motorsport this December and January.
“It’s a dream come true to be able to race in Australia, especially for such a great team,” he said. “I want to thank the Wormall Family, Wormall Motorsport and Wormall Civil for the amazing opportunity. I will learn a lot seeing new places and racing new drivers.”
Scelzi’s first race will be this Saturday at Perth Motorplex in Kwinana Beach, Western Australia. He will also compete in the USA vs. WA Sprintcar Speedweek and other select races before ending at the famed 45th annual Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic on Jan. 20-22.
“I think my goal is to make every show and come away with top fives and top 10s,” he said. “The No. 1 goal is to win races. That’s the highest goal, to come home with a trophy.”
Scelzi scored one feature victory during the 2016 season in the United States, where he has captured at least one win during four of his five seasons racing a winged sprint car.
Scelzi will also be in familiar company throughout his trip as his younger brother, Giovanni, will crew for the team and Brian Brown will be a teammate.
“I’m excited to have Giovanni there throughout the trip helping set the car up,” Dominic Scelzi said. “I’m glad I can share this opportunity with my brother. It will also be great to be teammates with Brian Brown, who is one of the most accomplished drivers in the sport.”
