Jordan Ryan Wins FAST 305 Feature at Limaland

Limaland Motorsports Park Top Story 2015

From Brian Liskai

LIMA, Ohio (July 14, 2017) — Mother Nature finally cooperated for the JLH General Contractor FAST 305 Championship Series presented by Engine Pro Friday, July 14 as 24 race teams signed in to tackle the high banks of Limaland Motorsports Park. And while John Ivy took the checkered flag in the 25 lap feature event, a post race inspection was halted by the owners of his race team, and thus Castalia, Ohio’s Jordan Ryan earned the victory.

“We teched eight cars at a neutral track after several race teams had indicted they wanted inspection conducted. One car was deemed in violation of the engine rules prior to competition. John Ivy’s car was given a preliminary inspection and upon winning the race we inspected the winner, the fifth place finisher and the 15th place finisher. During the post-race inspection we received indicators of something out of the norm and wanted to proceed to do more procedures when the race team stopped the process. So the 77i was disqualified. Jordan Ryan’s car passed post-race inspection and he was declared the winner,” said Rich Farmer, FAST President.

“I want to thank all the teams and fans who came out to support the JLH General Contractor FAST 305 Championship Series. I hope the teams are grateful to see the rules need to be followed by all,” added Farmer.

The feature got off to a bad start as 14th starter Landon LaLonde took a tumble on the opening lap, collecting Luke Daugherty. LaLonde was shaken up a little, but was other wise uninjured. On the second attempt to start the feature front row starters Caleb Griffith and Nate Dussel got together with Dussel suffering front end damage. Fifth starter Steve Rando was in the wrong place at the wrong time and made contact with Dussel and tipped over.

The third try at a green was a success and the feature would run 25 uninterrupted laps. Griffith led the first lap with Ricky Peterson taking command by a nose on lap two. Griffith utilized the bottom groove to retake the point on lap three and pulled away slightly. Peterson was locked in a great battle with Ryan for second with Kyle Capodice, Tyler Street and Ivy battling for fourth. As Griffith caught the rear of the field at the half-way point Peterson began to close.

Peterson used a lapped machine to take the lead on lap 14 as Griffith’s right rear tire began to lose air; he would pull into the infield two laps later. With nine laps remaining the battle of front was fierce involving Peterson, Ryan, Ivy, Capodice and Paul Weaver. Ivy used the bottom to perfection to grab the lead on lap 18. As Ivy began to pull away the race for second was exciting with Peterson, Ryan and Weaver slicing through traffic and trading the runner-up position lap after lap.

As Ivy drove to the checkers, Ryan nosed under Weaver to finish second with Capodice and Peterson rounding out the top five.

Following the post-race inspection and Ivy’s disqualification, the $1,000 top prize was awarded to Ryan, his first win of 2017.

The JLH General Contractor FAST 305 Championship Series presented by Engine Pro will be back in action in a double-header weekend, Friday, July 28 at AtticaRacewayPark and Saturday, July 29 at Fremont Speedway.
