DYKSTRAS HONORED AS OHSWEKEN TRACK CHAMPION

The 2010 Ohsweken Speedway season was capped off in fine fashion on Saturday night with the annual awards banquet at the new Marritt Hall in Ancaster. Dave Dykstra was honoured as the third champion of the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car division, while Jamie Cox was crowned ESSO Thunder Stock champion, Trevor Goulding received ESSO Mini-Stock accolades, and Karl Sault was awarded his second trophy as champion of the Bomber division.

Being out on the west coast can have some advantages. It isn’t colder than, make your own finish, and the sights aren’t what you have seen every day for years. But it also keeps you away from the family. Darren is a race car driver but he is also looking forward to some down time with his wife and daughter that this off season will allow.

Rumble Series rings in the New Year, Ride Changes, and More!

Over the past 12 years the Rumble Series has evolved into a mid-winter gathering of racers young and old for a change to gather with friends for some winter racing. Part of the series success has been the availability of the Fort Wayne Exposition Center on the weekend between Christmas and New Years Day. This season an interesting challenge arose with both holidays falling on Saturday.

AREA FOOD PANTRIES BENEFIT FROM ELDORA SPEEDWAY FUNDRAISER

A gathering of Eldora Speedway staff members and vendors benefited two area food banks to the tune of $2,000 in cash and two truckloads of non-perishable items to stock their shelves. The donations were split equally between Darke County’s Community Action Partnership and the Mercer County’s CALL Food Bank.

Wednesdays with Wayne – Cruising in Las Cruces!

Wayne Johnson’s first ever trip to the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico was a success. After locking himself into the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series’ finale with a fourth place run in the prelim, a loss of use of the brakes relegated him to an eighth place finish on Saturday. The Knoxville, Iowa driver now looks forward to the Western World this weekend, held at the USA Raceway in Tucson, Arizona.
