The biggest pre race news was the involvement of Joe Darmofal buying a controlling interest in the All Star Circuit of Champions. Joe has sponsored teams in the past, and was formerly the head of the Motorsports Alloys division of TW Metals. Joe has been a staunch All Star supporter and will do a great job leading the group into the future. To avoid speculation, a press release from the All Stars will be forthcoming and we will have an interview with Darmofal this weekend. […]

This week the United States Auto Club officially announced plans for an Ohio swing to feature the National Sprint Car and Midget series at four prominent dirt tracks. Ohio was the founding ground of the “Speedweek” format where winged racers crisscross the Buckeye state. The heat races were incredible all night at the first night of the Eldora doubleheader. In particular the third sprint car heat race that featured a spirited dual with J.J. What a difference a week makes. Last weekend saw myself and a guest freeze at Attica through a tremendous feature, warm up slightly only to have it rain before the heat races at Eldora, and then see snow on the way home when we should have been seeing a double dip with USAC Worldcom National midgets and Stoops/Freightliner Sprint Cars. The Anderson event was rescheduled for one week later, and at the last moment Mudclodbob, Patrick Poor, and myself hopped in the car and headed down to the Glen Niebel Classic. […]
