Bobby East of Brownsburg, Ind. is eyeing the April 30 “Kevin Doty Classic” at Pontoon Beach, Ill. as the early 2010 USAC Mopar National Midget Series point leader after winning Sunday’s 100-lap race at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway.

East became the winningest USAC driver in Anderson Speedway history, taking the lead from Darren Hagen on the 99th lap and holding on for the win. East trailed Hagen for 98 laps in his Klatt Enterprises Ford Racing Beast, then made the winning move to beat Hagen, Dave Darland, Cale Conley and Tracy Hines to the checkered flag. Jerry Coons Jr. was Sunday’s fastest qualifier but failed to finish the 100-lapper.

The April 30 running of the inaugural “Kevin Doty Classic” at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. will showcase the nation’s top drivers on the exciting 3/8-mile dirt oval in a race honoring the memory of the late Milan, Ill. driver who perished in a crash at Sun Prairie, Wisc. in 2005.

The 58th running of the prestigious “Hut Hundred” will follow on May 8 at the Tri-City Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. featuring a three-abreast, 33-car starting field.
