This Saturday night’s USAC “tripleheader” at the Kalamazoo (Mich.) Motor Speedway includes the Mopar D1 Midgets, Midwest Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns, and the Mopar .25 Midgets are also on the grounds, competing at Little Kalamazoo.
Taylor Ferns of Shelby Township, Mich. won last Saturday night’s heat race at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway before heavy rains forced cancellation of the remainder of the racing program. The win left her with a comfortable 167-point lead over runner-up Jake Blackhurst entering the Kalamazoo event.
