SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Although the wheel-to-wheel racing action has come to an end for the season at Selinsgrove Speedway, track officials still have two events, a race car flea market coordinated by the DH&L Fire Co. on Oct. 29 and the annual awards banquet on Nov. 12, before the curtain falls on 2011.
The Third Annual DH&L Fire Co. Race Car Flea Market is set for 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, rain or shine, on the speedway grounds. The flea market is open to all types of motorsports vendors. Setup for vendors will begin at 5 a.m. with a $15 fee per space due the day of the event. Admission for shoppers is free.

The 11th Annual Selinsgrove Speedway & Raceway Park Awards Banquet will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel. Doors will open at 4 p.m., with the Raceway Park awards for the Selinsgrove Ford go karts and micro sprint cars slated to begin at 5 p.m.
Following dinner at 6:30 p.m., Selinsgrove Speedway will honor the 2011 track champions in the A&A Auto Stores 358 sprint cars (Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove), Jeff’s Auto Body & Recycling Center late models (Jeff Rine of Danville), Salem RV Center/Byers Built Engines pro stocks (AJ Hoffman of Richfield), and Collier Paving & Construction roadrunners (Bob Bussey of Northumberland) starting at about 8 p.m.
Banquet tickets can be purchased by contacting Terri Paige at 570.374.6270. Attendees wishing to book a room at the discount rate for the banquet need to contact the hotel at 717.564.5511 before this Saturday, Oct. 22. After the cut-off date, regular hotel room rates will apply.
Off-season improvements currently underway include the replacement of lighting poles and wiring extending from the half-mile track’s first turn to third turn. Sifted clay is also expected to start arriving, weather permitting, for both the half-mile and one-fifth mile tracks for the 2012 season.
