Second Again for McFadden

By Daniel Powell

For the second occasion in succession driving for the Paul Morris Motorsport team, James McFadden finished in the runner up spot on the podium, which took place last Saturday night at Archerfield Speedway during the 13th round of the KRE Sprintcar Series.
After starting from position six in the feature race, McFadden had to work his way forward throughout the 30-lap journey, and in the end finished in the runner up spot behind winner Andrew Scheuerle.
McFadden admitted that a mistake during the middle stages of the feature race, where he half spun while in second and dropped back to fourth, hurt his chances of making a better challenge for the winning spoils.
“I had moved into second, but lost the position due to a mistake on my behalf and then I had to work harder to make up the positions I lost,” commented McFadden, who finished second in last month’s Queensland Title in his debut for the Paul Morris Motorsport team. “Once I had worked my way back into second, I was unable to reel in Andrew [Scheuerle] and had to settle for another second place.”
McFadden’s night aboard the NQ # 67 Supercheap Auto / Paul Morris Motorsport supported J&J began by him posting the second fastest lap in time trials, but he then struggled in both of his heat races to progress forward and finished in fifth and fourth. Despite average heat race results, McFadden still managed to qualify fifth for the dash. A bad start in the dash hurt McFadden’s chances of moving forward and consequently ended up sixth.
Special thanks from McFadden must go to Paul Morris, Bobby Smith, along with Supercheap Auto and the entire Paul Morris Motorsport team for the wonderful opportunity to drive for them.
Unfortunately, McFadden is going to be unable to contest the 14th and penultimate round of the KRE Series at Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night, May 26 with the Paul Morris Motorsport team due to attending the Avalon Raceway Presentation Night. It is where he will be awarded with his prize from Essendon Ford on the night for winning the Avalon Raceway Sprintcar Track Championship.
McFadden would like to thank his car owner Scott Milling, parents Dave and Tania, crew chief Glen Beaton, and crew members Crackers and Alex, along with his valued sponsors Totally Workwear Midland & VIC Park, Western Diamond Drillers, AUS FUEL GULL, Lucas Oil Products Inc, Allstar Performance, Astro Titanium, KRE Race Engines, OMP, Racer Industries and COOL Chassis, for their ongoing support in the 2011/12 season.
