Winged Sprint Cars head Bully Dog Nite

By Bob Burbach

Marysville- This Saturday is Bully Dog Night at Paul and Kathy Hawes’ Marysville Raceway Park. All 4 primary divisions will be running. The MRP Winged Sprint Cars will feature defending champion and current point leader Billy Wallace in the Bully Dog sprint car. Point leader Brent Hall will be looking to ward off a host of fast challengers as the MRP Super Stocks roar once again. Misty Castleberry will be back to defend her point lead as the MRP Mini Stocks will return with the bounty on Castleberry still in place. Jeremy Hammons also looks to hold off all challengers in the MRP Hobby Stocks.

Wallace will be under terrific pressure to keep his hopes alive for victory. Former champions Jeremy Burt, Mike Monahan, Brent Dothage, Korey Lovell and Cort Dozier will be looking to keep Wallace out of victory lane. The Burt/Wallace saga is expected to continue as Burt will try to shake off a couple of hard luck nights recently. Dozier has been steadily chipping away the point differential and has coolly moved into 2nd in the standings ahead of Burt. Crowd favorite Mike Monahan will be looking for two victories in a row as his brave battle back to stardom in the sprint car division took a big jump forward last time out. He won a convincing victory by beating Wallace to the checkers.

Vastly improved Peter Paulson, lady star Reyna Krueger and fan favorite Jimmy Steward will challenge the star studded entries. A fine field of the winged sprint cars is expected.

This Winged Sprint Car show will also be a Contingency Connection event. Feature event bonus awards of up to $1500 will be available to the winner if he or she has Contingency Connection sponsorship decals displayed. The bonuses will be awarded at the track this season. Sponsorship decals are available at MRP.

A sweet point battle is erupting in the MRP Super Stock ranks as the top three contenders are covered by a 12 point differential. Brent Hall sits 8 points ahead of rival Phillip Shelby and only 12 up on Ray Trimble. A fine field of Supers is also expected.

The flurry of controversy that surrounds the MRP Mini Stock ranks this season will continue Saturday. Promoter Hawes has continued the $100 per week bounty on champion Misty Castleberry. Win the feature and its $500 to win…if your name isn’t Misty Castleberry. Last time out Howard Law picked up the bounty. But, Castleberry didn’t complete the event. Promoter Hawes seized the moment in victory lane and reapplied the bounty. Law got his, but now it’s time for others to try. Mini Stock madness continues Saturday.

In the MRP Hobby Stocks, Jeremy Hammons brings in a 17 point lead in the standings over veteran campaignerJim Waller. Hammons has been dominant this season. The fields have been growing in this slam-bang entry, level stock car class and Saturday night should see a great field of cars.
